WBT's signal

Friday I was driving down to Cabarrus county for something. After we lost Rush Rado 94.5 to WMUU, I switched to WBT (AM) only to find a terrible signal. Crackly and just overall weak. This was before the storms rolled in. Is this normal?? I never knew they had a hard time covering the metro during the daytime.

I have been wondering the same, areas where I used to get a strong signal now are weak or non existant.

Is it just that there is more and more interference on the AM Band now or is something else going on?

I haven't tried it but I haven't had good experiences with WBT where I live. Even east of Charlotte I can remember WTAM and KMOX coming in more clearly.

Amazingly, in the mountains during the day I could hear WBT.

They used to have a very good daytime signal, so not sure if Greater Media has made any changes. But I can get them pretty good during the day here in GVL SC, in the car, but they block their western signal at night. In the house, with rabbit ears, I can get 99.3 clearly, and the HD version on my upstairs Sony HDRadio receiver, connected to attic antenna. But 99.3 in the car is hit or miss, due to interference from a Ga station on the same frequency. I like Brad and Britt, Hancock, sometimes Larson, but not a fan of Rush. Prefer Neal Boortz. But recognize Rush does what he does very well, just don't overall agree with his viewpoint.

Here in Gaffney SC...50 miles west of WBT-AM:

99.3 is solid with little or no static.
1110 is ok in the daytime, but very difficult yet not impossible to hear at night.

Visiting NJ (Toms River), NH (Concord) & FL (Port St Lucie) last year at night, I was able to hear 1110 at night almost static free,
it was actually one of the stronger AM DX signals on the dial. Very suprised their directional antenna is that good.
Those blaw-knox towers do a great job. ;) I've visited the WBT-AM site before and got some pix, one of them is still on Wikipedia.

I Had To Travel To Clover, S.C. on/around early 2010. I was amazed at how quickly the reception of 1110 WBT was impaired after leaving Mecklenburg County. I could hardly believe my ears. I know they are a "North/South" Station but the reception truly suffers to this day for East-West Listeners.
