WBTV's sister station goes HD

According to VARTV.com, WWBT in Richmond has gone High Def (local programing/news). On a side note, I wonder how this will mesh with WWBT's EXTREMELY low-powered DT transmitter (approximately on a par with WTVI in Charlotte). In fact almost all of Raycom's Digital transmitters will be very weak after the transistion. WBTV has an excellent DT signal. Any chance Raycom will lower WBTV-DT's power?

I don't like hearing all these negative comments about DT.

It's being forced on us and I don't like it.

I don't care how good they say it is. It'll be hard enough for me to pick up stations without all these other complications--the biggest being you must get a perfect signal or you won't get anything. I'm content not to get perfection now with rabbit ears, but these stations had better get their acts together or soon no one will be able to pick up anything.

I haven't even gotten my rooftop antenna yet.

chimpanzee, don't complain about digital TV until you try it for yourself. In my neighborhood just south of Charlotte, nobody could get WBTV analog at all with rabbit ears. The other 9 Charlotte stations came in snowy and or ghosty. But WBTV-DT comes in crystal clear in digital, as do all the others except WTVI--all with an inside antenna. For most people, digital will be a big improvement---though those in outying areas may need to spring for a $40 outdoor antenna (and many already have one on their roof that can be rehabilitated). There has been so much misinformation about digital TV, its not funny. And now I notice Time Warner has started advertising that their cable service is the only solution to the digital transistion. This is certainly false advertising.

Yeah Time Warner sucks for their "Home of Free HD" advertising.

I live in south Charlotte in the Arboretum Area and have never gotten a decent signal from WBTV analog, so I'm thankful for the DT signal.
