Honestly (and I don't think I'm alone in the least in saying this) I think the third "big sale" will involve KNOU. At this point, with On Top's financial woes and the recent file for bankruptcy, I think it's merely a matter of to whom and how much.
On Top has been losing stations left and right lately: their LMA in Virginia Beach was terminated under bad terms (the station was sold and went AAA as "the Tide",) WJXN/Jackson was sold to Jimmy Swaggart and flipped to religious, and as far as I know, their entire Albany, GA cluster is silent (I say "cluster," but it's maybe two stations at the most.)
From my point of view, it appears that Hedgwood bit way too much more than he could handle. For instance, to keep Marathon from selling KNOU to another buyer, he shovelled enough cash at them to keep U104-5 commercial free for almost a year. Plus, On Top had elaborate on-air promotions and giveaways that had to eat away at their budget not at just Hot 104.5, but all of their stations. It seemed that Hot 102.1/107.9 in Virginia was always handing out large sums of money.
On the New Orleans front, I think that if Hedgwood wasn't so hard-headed to force his corporate branding and format strategy, and kept KNOU as Rhythmic Top 40 "U104.5," he would have been able to make a little more headway into the market and made more of a return on investment rather than shifting to Hot 104.5 and trying to take on #1 WQUE head-on. But that's just me. And I'm nothing close to a radio executive, so take that with a grain of salt, if you will.

PS, speaking of which, a new station popped up in Tyler, Texas with a variety Rhythmic AC format (a'la Diva?) On the surface, it may not read much, but look at the consultant's track record...
http://www.radio-info.com/mods/board?Post=511338&Board=texas . Sure, he lists Jerry Clifton (creator of the CHR/Rhythmic format?) as an understudy, but he also lists Hedgewood and Alan Sneed (absolutely horrid Alternative/Modern Rock consultant)... so, it doesn't seem so hot afterall.<P ID="signature">______________
