I turned on WCHR 1040 today and they are now running "The Word in Praise" satellite feed of Praise music for a few hours in the morning and afternoon. This is the same service WBYN started to use when it dropped local hosts. The ID's between songs are for WCHR, no attempt to connect programming with WBYN 1160.
What is interesting is I heard a commercial break on WCHR about 7:15 am today - first an uptempo national spot with Jessica Simpson pushing a acne product, then a droaning New Jersey car dealer ad voiced by the longtime voice of WCHR going back to the FM days, but then there were 3 spots for former WBYN-FM sponsors in Silverdale, Souderton, and Royersford. Do you think these were ads purchased for WBYN and they are running them on 1040 to make up for the loss of 107.5, or do you think that WCHR convinced these advertisers that people in western Montgomery County will now be listening to 1040?
Must be confusing to some listeners in Flemington - "I need my John Deere fixed - just where is Detlan Equipment in Silverdale, anyway - out past Sergentsville?"
BTW, just went to WBYN's website and the stream is down - this won't help keep the out of 1160 range people listening, either!
