WBZ 4 is comming (?)

Recently read a message somewhere else that CBS 4 is INDEED in the works of going back to WBZ, and that a WBZ TV sign is already up at their new NH headquarters. Can anyone confirm this?

You say their New Hampshire headquarters. Is WBZ-TV moving to New Hampshire? When you say "headquarters," it makes it sound like you mean their main studios/technical facilities and sales offices. Or are you talking about a New Hampshire "bureau?"

Re: WBZ 4 is coming (?)

Giving up heritage call letters was not a very smart idea. WBZ is probably the only local station that most people identify by call letters. To call it CBS 4 turns into a moot point once the station migrates to UHF digital channels only.
Bring back 'BZ!!!!!

WBZ TV 4 is probably setting up its New Hampshire bureau for next year's New Hampshire Primary.

Also, nice to hear a woman's voice doing the intro to their newscasts. Who is it? Its about time.

Casablanca, I am sure it will be a nice switch if it happens, but I'm aksing if anyone can CONFIRM if 4 is going to identify as WBZ again. Can we have a discussion about how good/bad Channel 4 is in a different thread please?

I'm sorry for not making the subject more clear.

It's gonna happen!

My guess is that it will be done by New Year's Eve for First Night coverage. Hintings of the rebrand had been around for months. Recently, though, a print ad in the First Night booklet has a child-drawn WBZ logo:

How about Eyewitness News now??

keep living in the past...

their ratings sucked before they went with cbs4 name and they'll still suck when they cut over back to wbz-tv. the problem is not with what they call themselves but with the
content. nice attempt by the management to remarket themselves before they start
making more drastic personnel moves which are much needed over there. good pr puts
you in a newspaper for one day but it doesn't get you ratings week after week.

Ok, that's it I'm moving!

Er, eventually.... LOL

Ok, now all we need is the logo, same way we got the TV38 one early. This president of theirs sure likes the classic, huh?

Great news, great news indeed, a late B-day present!

Do you think the station logo and IDs will change entirely?

Yes, the id is going to be WBZ4Boston. THe logo will still have some Eye in it but some retro-wbz elements as well.

I don't think CBS-4 branding did as much damage to their ratings in three years as they want people to believe. There are other underlying problems that they have to face. Name and logo are just wrappers, not root causes of their ratings demise. They haven't been investing anything into their news op for the last 3-5 years and it shows. Anchor pairings and anchor choices are awful but we won't get into it now.

It would be nice if they could revive the old Westinghouse "4" logo that was used up until 1996. And then, it would have had an exact 10 year hiatus!
