WBZ Accu Weather

With the upcoming changes at Channel 4, WBZ should align themselves with them and have Todd Gutner on mornings and new meteoroligist Eric Fisher in the afternoon.

Before she left to go back to Cleveland, I would hear Melissa Mack doing the weather reports on WBZ 1030. And I believe very recently, I heard Barry Burbank on BZ.

I thought that they were only using Accu Weather outside of the daytime All-News and on the weekends.

They seem to like Elliott Abrams who has been on in the morning for more than 30 years and before that on WHDH. I was working at BZ when they started using AccuWeather and it was all about money. Accuweather was cheaper than paying the TV guys to do radio as well. And when there was a big storm radio thought they got better coverage from AccuWeather than the TV guys but that was 30 years ago.

I heard Todd Gutner on this afternoon doing WX.

BTW, does anyone know what happened to the female meteorologist who was on in the morning on CH 5. I know Cindy FitzGibbons is on now but did they let the other woman go. Obviously I can't remember her name.

The "female meteorologist/other woman" you speak of was only there for the last 12 years, and prior to that was on NECN. How you don't know her name seems awfully strange........

Why is it strange? I don't watch much local TV news and I never watch TV in the morning. I haven't watched Chronicle in about 25 years. I couldn't remember her name big deal.

You know that CF is on WCVB now, but you have to idea of the identity of the mainstay that was there for years? Yeah I find that strange.

If you still get your weather forecast from TV or radio, you must be a shut-in or really old...

Umm...that would be no to both. But I do prefer to watch the local broadcasts while I eat breakfast/dinner, thank you.

Um, they do. Their TV reports are branded as AccuWeather forecasts and have been for at least a year. Except for Elliott in the morning, they utilize in-house talent for most of the radio forecasts now.

I recall when WHDH has accuweather and they took a full page in the Globe, soon after the Blizzard of 78, to crow that only their forecasts, via Accuweather, had predicted that an expected post-blizzard storm would be a bust.

Of course accu-wx is known for fudging forecasts "Partly cloudy thoroughout much of the area, which some local precipitation developing with the potential to develop into a wintry storm leaving 2-28 inches of snow, otherwise patches of sunshine with seasonable highs and colder lows."
