WBZ-AM Weekend Anchor Jim Mitchell Passes Away

WBZ is reporting this afternoon that Jim Mitchell, a weekend anchor for the past ten years at the station (and prior to that, a fixture on WEEI and WHDH), has passed away at 58. Mitchell was a class act, a true gentleman and one of WBZ's finest. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

WBZ's Anthony Silva has a tribute to Mitchell:

Jim got his New England radio start at WLNH Laconia,NH back in the 70s. Story is his car broke down outside, and came in to use the phone. The Program Director heard Jim's voice and the rest became history.

He spent some time in the Atlanta area as well as Boston and New Hampshire.

My father Jess was very fond of Jim Mitchell. The Cain Family sends their condolences.
