Gary Lapierre first inductee of WBZ Hall of Fame

WBZ's legendary anchor, Gary Lapierre, who recently retired after more than forty years at WBZ radio is featured on the first plaque on the WBZ Hall of Fame.

The plaque was unveiled at a ceremony Friday morning.

WBZ News Director Peter Casey, who came up with the idea, said Gary was the first of many WBZ personalities who will be featured on theHall of Fame, which is located on the outside front of the WBZ building at 1170 Soldiers Field Road in Boston.

Nearly a century of broadcasting and they open it with this while Ed Walsh is still starting out?
 
Since no host on the station can compare with his legacy he will be forgotten.
 
WBZ can have a lot of people in their hall of fame: in addition to some who are still on now, you have
Dave Maynard, Larry Glick, Jerry Williams, Dick Summer, Don Kent, Brudnoy, and many many more
 
Wouldn't that be something, for WBZ to honor Williams?

for many years.. '68 to '76, I think.. he'd start his show "Good evening, America" due to the broadcast range.. he was an outspoken opponent of the Vietnam War.

There's one that belongs in a WBZ Hall of Fame before any of them: Carl deSuze.
