WBZ meteorologist Melissa Bell joins Fox 25

Melissa Bell debuted tonight on Fox 25. She was reporting from the outside while Kevin Lemanowicz was in the comfy comfines of the studio. We have another snow/ice storm coming late tonight/tomorrow in case you hadn't heard. ;D

Anchor Frank Mallicoat welcomed her aboard.

I dont know but Fox 25's Cindy Fitzgibbon is now out on maternity leave so I suppose Fox needed another meteorologist even though they have several of them.

Melissa, herself, went out on maternity leave last winter from CH 4
and never returned.

I was surprised to see her on channel 25 myself. The last time I saw her, she was H-U-G-E...I was afraid she'd give birth right then and there on the WBZ-TV news set! Between the channel 56 changeover and some new hires on channel 4, I thought the meteorologist contingent was as saturated as a humid day in July (and when one comes, I won't complain, but my cat will "Meow, get an air conditioner you cheap bastard").

I know this is a radio board, but I've seen ads for David Wade on Channel 4 in the morning. What happened to Scott Wahle(sp)? I really don't watch TV early in the AM anymore, but I always liked Scott Wahle.

Wahle got sent to the land of misfit anchors, which is to say the 9pm news on Ch. 38. I never liked him, for a whole host of reasons. But listening to him tell us that he never knew how to set the clocks on his video equipment, or wasn't familiar with certain 'current events' wore real thin, real fast. It's like he was trying to impress people by making them think he just stepped off the wagon train in Little House on the Prairie.

Glasses never helped him to read a teleprompter, and aimlessly shuffling stacks of paper in front of him as though with some great purpose didn't help, either.

Where Wahle would shine is as host of a resurrected Community Auditions. He could sing the intro tune, then insert himself as a contestant and win the whole thing. That's his calling...a singer, a Broadway 'stah.'

In general, the whole idea of yanking sports anchors and turning them into news anchors was a dumb one. Wahle joins Harding and Lavanchy as failed examples. Yes, I know the latter two are 'doing well,' but find me a person who likes either one and I'll find you two or three who don't.

I agree Mayo. If you watch her style, Maria is absolutely terrible. It is like watching a high school pep squad member. Maybe Fox ought to get her some pom poms, she is just that weak.

Sorry to say it but I must agree too. Maria is very chipper and pleasant, but she is as far from the "voice of God" authoritative news anchor as it gets. You really don't get "journalist" from her.

She does have nice legs in those boots....which are helpful.
