WBZ on 870?

Here in New Britain, CT, the overload frequency seems to be 94.9 FM. The commercial stations in the market are:

92.5 Waterbury/Hartford [West Peak in Meriden]
93.7 Hartford [West Peak]
95.7 Hartford/Meriden [West Peak]
96.5 Hartford [Avon Mountain in Avon]
100.5 New Britain/Hartford [Rattlesnake Mountain in Farmington]
102.9 Hartford [West Peak]
104.1 Waterbury/Hartford [West Peak]
105.9 Hartford [West Peak]
106.9 Hartford [Off of US 44 near Avon/West Hartford line]

The major AM stations here are:

840 New Britain [Willard Avenue in Newington]
910 New Britain [Radio Park in Farmington]
990 Southington [south end of Southington?]
1080 Hartford [Avon Mountain in Avon]
1120 Bristol/New Britain [?]
1150 Middletown [?]
1290 West Hartford [With WCCC-FM, I believe]
1360 Hartford [at WDRC-AM/FM studio in Bloomfield]
1410 Hartford [Cedar Street in Newington]
1550 Bloomfield/Hartford [?]

On the AM side, the only station which seems to cause trouble is WPOP-AM 1410. I can sometimes hear them on a couple of other spots on the AM dial, since I'm no more than 3 miles from their Newington transmitter. It's along CT Route 175, just east of the CCSU university campus. The problems are usually with their daytime pattern, so I must be in a lobe (I'm to its southwest). The interference is to the point to where WMMW-AM 1470 of Meriden gets washed out by WPOP-AM (but also WMMW-AM is only 1,000 watts).

990's antenna is at its studio location on Old Turnpike Road in Southington/Plantsville. (They're interchangable).
1120's antenna is in the Downtown/West End area of Bristol on Sherbrooke Street.
1150's antenna is on River Road in Middletown right near their studios.

Also WMMW 1470 is 2500 watts day/night, not 1000. They're antenna is on Leonard Street near the Westfield Meriden Mall. Speaking of WMMW, my coworker used to be a school bus driver and one time his bus became disabled near the antenna and the 2 way radio on the bus wouldn't work because of their antenna.

You are also right about 94.9 being the overload frequency. I've noticed it too.

Thanks! :D

Getting this back to Boston now...I don't ever remember getting WBZ-AM 1030 on other spots on the dial when visiting the area, listening to my Panasonice AM/FM/CD "Walkman."

I have heard the WBZ on 870 phenomenon on some radios, faintly, where I live in Somerville, in the daytime only when WROL is on their day power.

i'm having new trouble with SW images showing up via skywave on the AM band on my old CCrane CCradio. Radio Havana shows up on 1700 and Radio Marti on 1710. This literally is a two month old phenomenon. 1700 used to be clear where i could ID Miami or Des Moines. Now its a very loud Cuba when they are on.

Does this mean my radio is starting to "die" aka lose functionality? This is basically a brand new problem and these images dont show up on any other radio.
