The last 2 nights, I’ve noticed that my DVR recording of Jeopardy is starting “mid-intro”. Typically, the Jeopardy intro has Johnny Gilbert saying “From the Alex Trebek stage at Sony Pictures Studios, this is Jeopardy!” My recordings are starting at “Sony Pictures Studios”.
I know I’m splitting hairs here, and while I’m not missing any of the actual game, the show recently introduced new opening graphics. Because my DVR copies of the last 2 episodes are starting “mid-intro”, I’m not seeing this new open in its entirety (which has gotten rave reviews).
Which means that WBZ is starting Jeopardy at roughly 7:29:54 PM, about 6 seconds ahead of schedule. Why?
See also my other thread, “why do the early evening newscasts start ahead of schedule”. In this “digital age” that we live in with program guides and DVRs, local TV stations have the responsibility of not “jumping the gun”. How would you like it if you arrived at a train station at 7:29 AM for a train scheduled to depart at 7:30, only for it to have left the station at 7:28?
