"Word FM" has filed to buy 88.9 WBZC-FM Pemberton from Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC, formerly Burlington County College) for $75K. Word FM (Four Rivers Community Broadcasting) owns and operates 88.9 WBYO in Sellersville, PA as well as a network of stations and translators in eastern/central PA and the Hagerstown, Maryland area. They'll simulcast the contemporary Christian "Word FM" format under an LMA on WBZC until closing. WBZC's 95.1 translator W236AF Burlington, located on the Burlington-Bristol Bridge, is not included in the sale. I believe that BZC's antenna/transmitter plant is located at a Burlington County-owned facility, so Word will likely have to pay rent or move, which may have affected the sale price. There likely won't be any studios involved since this is a 24/7 simulcast.
WBZC signed on the air in 1995, after WXPN moved from 88.9 to 88.5 in 1991, did a full digital studio rebuild around 2002, and signed off 23 years after its inception in January of 2018. RCBC had closed its Pemberton campus where WBZC's studios were located, and opted to go online-only from its Mt. Laurel campus rather than relocate the FM facilities.
From insideradio.com:
Four Rivers Community Broadcasting files a $75,000 deal to buy the currently-silent WBZC, Pemberton, NJ (88.9) from Burlington County College. Four Rivers already owns 17 contemporary Christian “Word FM” stations in the region. It will operate WBZC under a programming agreement until closing. Once the sale closes Burlington County College will still own the Burlington, NJ-licensed translator W236AF at 95.1 FM. Broker: Clifton Gardiner & Company.
