Of course, no programming changes for now... think Star 100.7 will eventually evolve into a Mainstream CHR? Kiss is a pretty big target, and CBS might want to eat into their pie, if you know what I mean :p

Didn't CBS already try to eat into KISS with the return of B 94 which failed. So what would make CBS want to try again on Star 100.7 ?

If they think the music landscape in general has changed enough to warrant two CHRs here. When Justin f'ing Bieber is on the cover of Vanity Fair, this idea may not be as wacky as we think.

Do call letters mean much anymore?

Typically not anymore, but there are a few exceptions. In my market - Hartford, Connecticut there are several stations that use their call letters more than the legal ID.

Using the call letters a lot isn't the same as the call letters meaning much.

precisely

While I'm sure many program directors would want to do what their Canadian counterparts do (which is, quite often, not run callsigns at all), there are clear exceptions in this market.

KDKA-FM clearly is identified as such during sports-news breaks on 93.7 The Fan.

WJAS gets frequent mention.

So does WQED (and sometimes WQEJ).

On the other hand, we have 'KFB Pittsburgh and 'KHB Pittsburgh (for the much quieter read WKFB Jeannette and WKHB Irwin).
