WCAP..Changes?

Now that former part owner Clark Smidt is taking that long walk in the woods....rumor has it some "changes" are in the works.

I mean, could The Donna Halper Show be joining the line-up?

Apparently, Jimc, you have some information that most of us are unaware of.

Could you share the source of the information regarding Clark Smidt's status as former owner of WCAP? ???

I haven't seen anything online about it either. Usually when I post something I provide a link or a source. Otherwise people could just say anything. Even when a source IS given it isn't necessarily true (like when Weekly Dig spread rumor that Entercom was buying WFNX, putting Mike there, and simulcasting WEEI on 93.7. After noticing nobody else had the story it was clear the WD was tweaking the nose of its rival, the Phoenix)

OK I guess it is happening; I had done a quick search of Lowell Sun but found nothing...then I noticed a board called http://www.dracutafterdark.org mentioned a bit in the Sun on the 10th
(there was a link to the Sun but it was main page, not article. Can't find article on Sun site.)

DRACUT AFTER DARK:
>>IT APPEARS a deal is near in which WCAP co-owner Sam Poulten will buy out partner Clark Smidt.
Asked if a deal had been reached late last week, Poulten told a Sun reporter he will be able to talk about it this week.

The headline of the post is "True to his ‘Modus Operandi’, WCAP’s Smidt close to being bought out yet again for ridiculous $$$". An earlier post from May also suggested that Smidt was possibly being bought out.
(5/29 thread title: Just remember: DAD was first to report Clark Smidt would sell his financial interest in WCAP )

Nobody is being bought out of WCAP for enormous amounts of money. They overpaid and owe the banks too much. If Smidt is leaving, it's part of a lawsuit settlement, he may have been majority owner, but he didn't have much equity in the deal.

Cue the Khmer tunes.

You won't find the article on the Lowell Sun website since it was in last Sundays "The Column" which they do not put online. Clark indeed had NO equity other than his "expertise" which along with $4 would get him a large coffee at a Dunkin Donuts. Hopefully after the disasters at WCAP and the Worcester fiasco (under his consultantship) that he will realize that his heyday in radio was in the 1970's....and that he has been living off his reputation since then (and it ain't much of a rep unless you think that humiliating and degrading employees is a good thing). The radio industry as a whole is better off without him.
