WCAT flips to WJOE and sat-oldies.

1kw daytimer-powerhouse WJOE (ex-WCAT) was heard today with satellite-fed "Good Time Oldies. This is new, since they had been simulcasting WGAW - Gardner for some years.

Today's programming included some older elements of WCAT programming, like Dead Air for 20 or so minutes, NO local spots, and WGAW morning man Spencer Marshall attempting to sing along with a few of the songs once dead air time had ended!

Compelling local radio. Wish Keating Willcox had purchased the signal, or Bob Bittner <sigh>. Gonna miss Hannity, and even O'Reilly.

DX central
for central Mass.

Isn't WJOE 2.5kW days? Not that it matters much. Glad to hear that the tradition of quality* programming lives on at 700 kHz in north-central Massachusetts. Good luck to them, and may the radio gods have mercy on their souls.

Peace,

You're right - WJOE is in reality a 2500 watt lawnmower, er, flamethrower. I should visit the database more often :). Todays dead-air (unscientific study) has only been 2 mins or so (lost sat. feed?).

Would we have better radio here in north-western-most Worcester county if we allowed high school carrier-currents to upgrade to 2.5kw and sell ad time?? :(

I was looking for their website, and I found this one: <u>WJOE Radio</u>.

But, it's not about the station. It's a site about restoring antique radios.
