Wcau 98 solid gold years auto to live

Hey Guys:

Noticed WCAU 98 was automated Oldies from 1970 to 1972 then became Live from 6am to 10am and 3pm to 6pm Long John Wade did mornings. Would anybody know when he started his live morning show in 1972? And who did 3pm to 6pm?

Then WCAU 98 went LIVE 24/7 in 1974. Would anybody know when that was. I saw in Billboard an article from Feb 1974 that Joe Niagara joined CAU doing 6pm to 10pm in January 1974.

Line up as of Feb 1974
Long John Wade 6-10am
Gene Manning 10am-3pm
Jim Nettleton 3pm-6pm
Joe Niagara 6pm-10pm
?????? 10pm-2am
?????? 2am-6am

Thanks Tommy C.

Man I never knew anyone cared or remembered this fantastic station, I listen to old tapes I made every day. This was by far the best oldies format on the planet. From what I recall they switched from the young sound to solid gold radio early 1970 with Diamond Jim the best PD ever making tapes from his home in Cherry Hill. CBS tried this as an experiment but it was so successful most all of the CBS owned FM'ers went solid gold. WCBS-FM was next, they were stereo from the start whereas WCAU-FM was mono until 1971 and they played doo wop with no future gold like WCAU-FM. The jocks were all on tape which was matched to the music but WCBS-FM was always live. I remember Wade being live because of local news weather etc., on tape were Manning, Chandler(Hatch), Jim, Fennessey for awile to young to fit, the Bird later Dan Foley who stood there until that moron Keating flipped the disco switch, bad move, first book after the fiasco from a 4.2 to 1.9. Sorry for the rant but this station was the best all you youngsters on here would never enjoy that type radio nowadays. SIDE NOTE It was a riot when the music didn't match the jock, for instance Surfin USA would play and after the jock would say that was Blue Moon then 10 jingles would play back to back then two songs which did not match what the jock said, then Blue moon would play...does anyone understand this...great stuff
