WCAU in Mono on Verizon FiOS in Dover DE

I get Verizon FiOS in Dover Delaware and susspected WCAU 10 was not in stereo but mono when switching between 10 and 11 (WBAL Baltimore) during NBC network programming. I put my stereo in wide mode to confirm and was convinced of it.

Then I read online a button push sequence for the 2500-3 to bring up a diagnostic menu. When I did this WBAL had a SPDIF of 2/0 while WCAU (and WPVI) had 1/0.

As someone from WCAU answers here sometime I was wondering: Is this from WCAU or a fault of Verizon? And should WCAU care when people like me watch NBC in stereo on WBAL over mono on WCAU?

I just got through a huge battle to fix the audio (bring back the treble) on Comedy Central so I'm in no mood on calling Verizon on this.

Further investigation shows WCAU-HD and WPVI-HD are 3/2 with the LFE. So I guess you get stereo if you go HD.

Funny thing: WCAU and WPVI both have their weather sub-channels available on FiOS and both are in stereo. Yea, their main -1s are mono while their 24/7 weather is in beautiful stereo. Someone at Verizon must be laughing their butt off. At least someone is laughing.

UPDATE: Both WPVI and WCAU are now stereo 2/0.

Did I speak too soon? ;-)
