WCBS-AM running VIDEO commercials on the stream!

It's one thing to run a video commercial at the start of streaming, I suppose, but in the middle of programming?

I'm hearing poorly recorded video audio this morning on the "radio.com" WCBS-AM stream. If you're just listening -- hey, guys, this is RADIO -- the content makes no sense. It's repetitive and annoying.

The spots are also not synced correctly to cover the local spots. What a mess!

I saw one of those just a little while ago on the 1010 WINS stream, too.

I've seen them a bunch of Internet radio streams - not just CBS'. It's a lousy idea. Much - maybe most - Internet radio listening is on mobile devices. Great way to annoy potential customers is to waste bytes in their data plan. Plus, who keeps holding the phone with the screen on after they click on the app to start the stream. And sometimes these spots keep the screen on, so they drain the battery, too.

If CBS is unloading the radio division anyway, maybe they don't care. Just let the salesmen give clients whatever they want and get the money.

over ading is starting to happen at CBS FM too. First you've got that stupid ray catena spot that stops the flow of the traffic dead and now as heard on Friday, the STUDIO is sponsored.

Over sponsorship is part of what made the todd show un listenable. they've already got a 6 minute commercial break. I realize you've got to pay the people who work there, but in some cases, I think it's companies getting greedy and telling sales people "Ok, we're doing great now. sell as many things as you can, while you can. who cares what it sounds like?" From a listener point of view, I don't want more ads than we get content..

They're copying Clear Channel oops I mean Iheart Media and Cumulus. Both have been naming their studios for years.

I was used to it on the I-Heart Stations in Connecticut such as The McDonald's Studios for KISS 95.7, The Cardio Express Studios for The River 105.9, and The Marinello Hair Academy (or whatever it's called) for KC 101. It was jarring a couple weeks ago when I heard on CBS's Lite 100.5 Allan Camp referring to their 9AM block with the tagline CT Fast Track in front of the name of the block.

CBS does this at all of their stations. It's a pain in the a-- to listen to 93.1 Jack FM from Los Angeles online, or 96.5 Jack FM from Seattle online. There's about 2 min of audio commercials and about 8 min of low quality video commercials choking my computer with unwanted data and memory. I'd rather drive to Seattle and listen to KJAQ over the air. Can't make my computer miserable!

Just another opportunity we all can take to thank AFTRA for pushing broadcasters into ad insertion. That was a stupid fight to begin with, and now everyone's lost.

not only that, but from banning the 'regular good' commercials from the net stream, these idiots are loosing ears for their worthless products. instead, we get inundated with Flo every minute. I go into convulsions if I don't hear that progressive ditty tune every now and again ;o). j/k

We know the DJs hate all these ads. the DJs are aware how it SOUNDS on the radio, and Scott was not too happy about learning that the studio had been sponsored.

But, companies get greedy, and the product/listenership suffers because of it. If I hear another car commercial ad with the big flag... ;o)...

I've had enough of Flo as well! Get rid of her! I hate the ads where she says "don't change the channel, I'm on all of them" with the kazoo; "corduroy pants" singing and the "basketball strike" one. I'd rather hear ads for getting rid of credit card debt than Progressive.

I still have some cumulus people on my FB feed. And guess what I saw today? Now they have ADS as status updates.. I can see why the term 'sales weasels' is rightly owned....Salesmen don't care that the more ads we see, the more we get driven away.

-edit and today, I just heard that the news updates on CBS FM are sponsored now. Susie clearly wasn't used to it, so it must have just started. these sponsorships ruin the flow of how the show sounds..
