WCBS FM 101.1 has the Jack!

Ok, I know it's technically not a LI station, but I'm sure it had some effect on the ratings here (especially for oldies stations like B103).

Anyone like or dislike what they are now doing?

Predictions?

B103 has lived under the shadow of 101.1 for 12 years.

I wonder if they will rise to the chance, reimage the station and welcome the displaced oldies listeners or just continue wandering along?

Not sure about the format. I liked CBS-FM but never stayed there very long. I suspect I'll react the same to Jack. WPLJ is sort of a modified Jack, and we can hear many of these cuts on other NY and LI radio stations.

What I don't like was they way they left. WCBS-FM has had some of the most loyal listeners in radio, and has had the oldies format for 33 years. When they dropped 50's music, people still listened. Their numbers were consistent and billing was good. When we lost WLIR, (and yes I still consider them lost, since I can't hear them in central Suffolk and don't drive around with my laptop running with WI-FI) we had time to grieve, bitch, complain, and time to say good-bye. We sat around waiting and recording those final moments. Many of the household names that were WCBS-FM had left, but many still remained. Those voices were suddenly silenced. No thank-you moments, no good-byes, no time. Just gone. While I personally do not grieve the loss of WCBS the same way I did WLIR, I feel horrible for those who do, and they suddenness of the change.

Now, if they played more than 105 oldies.......

I find the idea that they are calling themselves "now...NY's Only Oldies Station" rather funny as the jocks weren't permitted to say the "O" word on the air a couple of weeks ago.

Re: WCBS FM 101.1 alternative for now!

If commercial-free
& thousands of 50's/60's tiles are for you...
you might consider the station Norm N Nite listens to in NE Ohio...
& was mentioned on WCBS-FM just a couple of weeks ago:

Also YOUR requests from 9-Mid...
today & every Sunday....all day.

LOL thats really Funny
WCBS used to play the same 40-50 songs everyday
B103 yep about 105 songs
The TM century Oldies library contains at least 989 songs..
Im still trying to figure why both stations Only play a limited amount of songs
from such a large library... does it have to do with certain people making more in royalties?

Let me correct myself..
the TM Century Oldies library stands at 1010 songs not 989...
