WCBS-FM Demonstration.

According to a post on the NYRMB, there will be a protest in front of the Viacom building 1515 Broadway in Manhattan next Tuesday June 21 11:30AM.

It would be good if the word get spread for this demonstration to have any maeaning.A civil and legal demonstration needs MUCH more than a group of 20 to turn out.

It didn't work for O&A.

It didn't work for Ron and Fez.

What makes you think it'll work for WCBS?

Brucie has gone to sirius, Harry is retired, even if you achieve what you want, it'll be a shell of it's former self.

Infinity will offer the HD stream. That's the compromise you'll get. Period.

I am copying the contents of that post (hey, he said "Please re-post", right?) and putting it as a sticky atop the board. I cannot make it, but I'd be interested in seeing how many turn out for this rally.
______________

It's NOT about getting CBS back. Far FROM it!

If anything, the objective of the demonstration is to show that you have a LARGE group of oldies fans that want to be represented on the terrestrial dial with a station catering to their needs and perhaps some corporation would take notice and see that the format is one that can bring in a revenue base. That's what it is really all about....not getting CBS to flip their decision.

At least that's how I see it.

Maybe one of those "mom and pop" stations in the city without corporate ties will notice. Wait! There are no mom and pop stations in the city, they all have corporate ties. Oh well.

Please tell me this is a joke. They're actually going to start a rally to bring back an oldies station?

At least the Hot 97 protests make sense, as they bring up issues of indecency, promotion of violence, and corporate media responsibility. CBS-FM just got blown up and the oldsters are mad...that's not worth picketing over!
______________

The posts against the advertisers on the NYRMB are worth it for the pure hilarity.
