Are you sure about the year? My Whitburn book shows this song debuting in Nov. '84.

Why did they play currents on an oldies station?

My Whitburn (1996 ed.) shows JOIML debuting on 4/17/1965.

Sorry about that. Isn't it great that they played a song that even I was wrong on the year? That is great.

I did not date the list when I logged it. I guessed at the date from the Future Gold songs, later on.

CBS-FM started playing Future Gold back around 1973. By 1975, they were playing two Future Gold songs an hour, every hour except during special shows.

My guess is that they wanted to have former listeners of WABC, WXLO and possibley WPIX-FM back in 1973. As for me, I liked the new songs, but the Top 40 stations played them too often and I liked the fifties songs played on CBS-FM. It was perfect, as I got to hear top hits of the week but not too much for any one song. And I got to hear all the Solid Gold songs that I always loved.
