WCBS FM returning to airwaves on HD

Hey,
I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but there's an interesting message that comes up form Chad Brown when you go to http://www.wcbsfm.com.

Check it out. It says that plan on keeping most of their personalities (So much for Cousin Brucie), and that the oldies format will return as and HD signal (as is being done in other markets).

So, if they are being honest (hard to say), it would appear that Infinity is not as stupid as we think.

Or are they?
Sorry if this whole things been mentioned already. Thoughts?

I don't think people miss CBS-FM enough to go buying HD recievers to listen to it....Just my opinion, I may be wrong.

Boston Acoustics is releasing their home IBOC receiver next month. I'm a NYer and I'll be there next month if it means getting CBS FM back.

Ever talk to a core O&A or Ron and Fez fan? Let us enlighten you with the receivers we've bought for Satellite radio...

Well the people on this board sure seem to. My post was meant for them. Can't speak for the majority of NYC listeners.

WCBS "Return"?

Yes, but will you get CBS FM back?

Sure, you'll get the same oldies music now being played on their webstream, where the format got pushed a week ago Friday. But I see no indication that any of the CBS FM on-air personalities are going to do the HD/Internet thing. (Cousin Brucie certainly isn't - if you want him, you'll have to buy a Sirius receiver instead. :D)

It's a very novel idea, to be sure..."preserving" the format on two secondary outlets. But you could probably fit every HD Radio owner in the NYC market into my home right now, and I don't have a big house. Well, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but any CBS FM jock who ends up doing the "WCBS-FM 2" thing will not be playing to large audiences. Heck, Cousin Brucie has a larger potential audience at the nation's second largest satellite radio provider.

Are they really going to PAY their salaries for just a handful of people who have or want to get HD radio to hear it??????

Re: WCBS "Return"?

Thats a good question for Chad Brown. I heard that Hd radios go for $300 and up so theres no way i can afford that and i will be staying with the cbsfm oldies online stream instead to listen to cbsfm. also how do you hook up those hd radios to your stereo to listen to it on speakers?

Re: WCBS FM returning to airwaves on HD Would It Really Be CBS-FM?

Would it really be CBS-FM. With personality, live deejays, some news and...personality? Or would it be a jukebox that plays songs from 1964-1975 with a recorded line or jingle between songs as their stream does?

I am not evening hoping to get Bobby Jay and Bob Shannon back. Any competent air persnality will do.
