6 weeks after Apollo 11's moon landing; 2 weeks after Woodstock Concert; baseball's N.Y. Mets charging & eventually overtaking the Chicago Cubs for the National League East Division title.

Enjoy!

NOTE: Tune in at about 9:55PM on Sunday evenings as sometimes the show begins early. Most of the countdowns are available a few days after they air as podcasts on the WCBS-FM website: click on "Top 20 Countdowns".

Should be some great tunes here..Maybe even "Hurts So Bad" by the Lettermen! We shall see.

why is "Sugar On Sunday" listed twice?

WMCA had to list it twice because WABC never played it at all! LOL! (OTOH, at the same time WMCA ignored "Ruby Don't take Your Love to Town" while WABC (surprisingly, given the song's controversial nature) played it for a number of weeks.

(actually, the "Sugar" thing looks like a typo)

It's listed on the WMCA playlist twice since it's two different versions of the same song: one (#38) by Freddie Scott on the Elephant V Ltd. Record label & the other (#37) by The Clique on the White Whale Record label. (Probably strategically placed back-to-back by the station on purpose, I would assume.)

NOTE: On-air, the #19 song listed on the WMCA playlist - "Kool & The Gang" by Kool & The Gang - was replaced by "And That Reminds Me (My Heart Reminds Me)" by the Four Seasons (which appears at position #25 on the WMCA playlist).

Dear Jeff M.

Please sneak in a countdown from the 50s sometime. It's late at night, nobody will notice. ;)

I'd love to hear your detailed commentary on some of the music from that time period.

Regardless of the year, I love the countdowns and never miss them. Keep up the great work.

Yeah, while we're operating outside the format, and since its late at night, how about something from the
30's.....you just dont hear enough Rudy Vallee or Mills Brothers on NYC radio these days.
