WCBS is now adding its website to its lower thirds and other graphics with their silly website close. I didn't think they could get worse, but they have.
______________

Toby, why do you have such a major problem with WCBS 2? Did you use to work there and you got fired? What is wrong with WCBS trying get viewers to go to the website? I think it is smart businessly.
______________

My major problem with WCBS is their lack of quality.
The way they are over-promoting their website is as if there is this brand new thing called the Web and guess what we have a website.
What they are doing exudes "small market in flyover country" not the flagship station for a major network in the #1 market.
______________

CBS' O/O KPIX, (CBS5)in San Francisco, has been doing the lower third website address for a few weeks now.

Their websites are very similar as well. Wouldn't be surprised if all O/O websites are the same.

That is the plan.
And you have to use IE for the damn things to work right!

That's like having color TV only work on certain brands.

> And you have to use IE for the damn things to work right!

That's like having color TV only work on certain brands. In that case, I'll find another way to get news, like Google News, or the BBC RSS feeds.

It's amazing how many ads are on the sites of local stations, which really distracts from the content and the longer term vision of making the station's news site promote the station as a news leader. If you're just going for ad clicks you're not creating real value. Think TSL for websites, with good design, comes together and enhances the overall value of the station, not just the damn site.

Thanks again to Radio Info for being almost ad free, the limited ads do their job while not distracting from the core mission of the site.

Agreed, I don't use IE, since it is filled with security holes.
You would think that any competent web design would be tested on all browsers to make sure everything works right for everyone. It takes a little more work, but the up side is that it doesn't piss people off.

Well thanks to some great Firefox plugins, one can block ads, which makes browsing a pleasure!
And when you look at TV or radio station sites the change is really noticable without ads!
