One of our jocks said people were boycotting the format change
and picketing the station....is that true?

Yes. Internet-wise anyway. The overall concensus is twofold:

1- Blatant disregard for "people", no "closure" on either part and the suden change without any warning.
2- The loss of a New York instituition (including the music and the personalities) and the hole it leaves in the "oldies" format option in NYC.

I've seen messages posted requesting folks to sign petitions and boycott all JACK sponsors. There's also supposed to be some momentum towards a gathering of support/rally on June 18th at a Doo-Wop show in New Jersey.<P ID="signature">______________

If I lived in NYC, I certainly would NOT listen to 101.1 or support the sponsors. The day WCBS died, the day Oldies radio died, IMO.

I'm glad this is happening!

The oldies fans should take a united front and picket in front of the station. That's the only way corporations will take notice. No corporation, big or small wants to be looked upon in a negative light!

If I lived within a reasonable distance of there, I would be there. I am furious with this whole happening!
