wcbsfm playing 101 countdown of Beatle songs today

This is Awsome!! today is 09-09-09 the day Beatles Rockband and the new Beatle box set is released and Wcbsfm is playing the countdown 101 songs of the Beatles. They been playing it since 9am and now they got to the number one song "Hey Jude" and is repeating it, if you want to listen wcbsfm.com. I am a BIG BEATLE FAN!! Best band ever!!

Another fine example set by CBS-FM, in radio programming. Keep it up!! Exactly how a classic hits station should be run.

I'm enjoying this, love The Beatles (was a member of the fan club as a teen in the 60s) ,but The Supremes is the world's greatest group, the #1 American group of the 60s,and it's still a scandal that not one Supremes song made the Top 100 in the recent CBS "500" countdown...

#152 - Supremes - Reflections
#336 - Supremes - Stop In The Name Of Love
#355 - Supremes/Four Tops - River Deep Mountain High
#365 - Supremes - Where Did Our Love Go
#390 - Supremes - Someday We'll Be Together

Good enough for me. Songs were voted by listeners, unless you believe conspiracy theorists, and that's the way they voted.

It is unfortunate, but it was listener voted. By the way, "Come See About Me" and "Love Child" are my favorites.

I'll bet you think stations actually play requests, too! ;)

Not at all. I had the same reaction when I read the post. Mr. Eduardo and I have had a civil disagreement or two, but on this count, he hit the nail squarely on the head. This having been said, I think the Supremes should have "placed" in the Top 100, certainly with "Stop! In the Name of Love" or "Where Did Our Love Go," two of the strongest testing Classic Hits in most markets.

Actually, CBS-FM, when the Beatles 101 was over, took requests for about two hours. All kinds of pretty unusual stuff for an oldies station, such as Helter Skelter, got on the air.

Most radio stations do fake these countdowns, and do fake "all request" weekends.

But CBS-FM is an exception. The Top Beatles, British, Christmas, and All-Time Countdowns are all based entirely on chart performance. (That is actually indisputable.) The Labor Day Top 500 COULD be "faked," but doesn't appear to be.

Denver's AM 950, took my request two days ago for "Cherry Hill Park" and they played it within 15 minutes. CBS-FM took my request for "Sgt. Peppers/ With A Little Help From My Friends" after the Beatles 101 and they played it within 30 minutes. They DO take requests.

Most stations will only play your request, if it's coming up on rotation and your call is timed right (meaning the song is coming right up, say within 30 minutes). That's a "fake" request.
