WCCB to become new "CW" affiliate July 1st.

It's official, but has been speculated for months, WCCB Channel 18 in Charlotte will be the new "CW" affiliate on July 1st, according to the Charlotte Observer's Mark Washburn, the owners for now will keep their morning and 10pm newscasts, but this could be a uphill battle since this network's prime time schedule is weak, if there is any good news, the NFL's Carolina Panthers pre-season games will stay on the station for the next three years, beyond that, they should consider acquring some other sports programs to fill the gap and do their best to hold on to their daytime lineup.

The CW is jointly owned by CBS and Warner Bros, so I would hope that eventually they will improve their programming. As for WCCB, they are planning to continue with their news programming and possibly expand. And if FOX comes on strong with news at WJZY as predicted, then it may be the lackluster WCNC news product that ends up being squeezed.
