WCCP move?

I'm surprised this didn't get mentioned on here. Are the boards that dead? 104.9 WCCP has completed the move to 105.5 as 105.5 The Roar. Puts a much better signal out over Greenville County. This clears the way for 96.7 WROO to move to 104.9 as planned.

I can clear-it...a little:

According to my Grapevine gatherings, WCCP's former owner, George Clemet, was given a chance to upgrade to what is deee-scribed above. Allegedly, he either did not have the money or just didn't want to fool with the FCC, and Radio, collectively.

Retired, and kinda/sorta done with the business, and reportedly, the nightmare of his children running(?) it for him.

Whoever the new owner is, and we'll call him "John Owner" here.....had some vision, knowlege, Money, and Balls....or as us Radio Dawgs call it...."Testicular Fortitude"!

The changes will make both stations serious....Players!

I'm really looking forward to the Power of this Progress!!!!!!!!!

So what's gonna happen to the 96.7 allocation...If no one fills it it'll be open to any move in at that point?
I don't see any real benefit moving 96.7 to 104.9...20 extra watts and non-directional, but at what cost...

96.7

Maybe CC plans on boosting the signal on 96.7 in Columbia?

Musical frequencies.... (pun intended)

Cheap Channel gets to upgrade a station in Asheville.

Is Columbia's 96.7 thinking about an upgrade? That's the only reason I could imagine vacating that frequency here.

Was there stunting with Katy Perry?

Woah. WROO's ratings have slipped slightly, but if it moves to 104.9 that could spell some serious competition for "Classic Rock" 101.1.

I'm not sure what the former Cox manager is doing over at Entercom. Their stations are still fairing decently, surprisingly so for WFBC and WTPT. But I expected more change over there and other than some "rebranding" of the rock stations, there really hasn't been much change to speak of. It might be ok now, but unless a spark lights under Entercom, I think things could quickly take a turn for the worst.

I find it hard to believe, with WKQC and WNOK being so close, that any improvement to the 104.9 signal would be possible that would result in a significant increase in popularity over 96.7.
