WCCP

Surprised no one has mentioned the sale of WCCP for $2.2 million and its application to move to 105.5 and upgrade to a C3. LMA already in place with buyer.

Yep,...something there had to eventually happen. Only time had to tic.
Several years ago, I was the OM there. One afternoon, three suits from Cox showed up, and had a brief pow-wow with the GM. Nothing came from it. They had just come from their snoop of WGOG, and finished their days work by gathering the info about WCCP. Weeks later, I saw a fellow Record Collector at The Atlanta Record Show, and since he worked for Cox.....Well, ya-know I had to...assssk! ?????
They had a small interest in WGOG, but allegedly WCCP was so far in debt, they scratched it off the list.

The Clement family had been protested through the FCC to change their frequency, with the option of raising power. Allegedly, in debt, the funds were not there to do so. That explains it on the block. The unconfirmed rumor is that:
a private set of deep-pocket owners from Hilton Head has made the purchase...not a Broadcast Group.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm???????????

With the way radio is going and big companies like CC for example having debt problems I wouldn't think private buyers would come as any real suprise to any one except the who it might be question. As for the price tag, most stations in my opion are still being valued at pre 2008 market values which of course would put them at a lot higher value than the real world market value of today.

Deep pocketed non-broadcasters overpaying. My first thought is a religious group.

Salty Dog, you could be right. I somewhat agree, and I'm sure others are with you on this.
However,...I was thinking something from the opposite direction...Evil...EEEEEE-vil. SHAGGERS!

Any word on what the new owners are planning on doing with this station yet? I was listening in the other day and noticed some new commercials. It was mention that the new owners would be on hand @ a remote. Seems like the hosts are trying to put their best foot forward lately. Still doesn't make up for the vast lack of sports knowledge from the hosts, reading articles off the internet all day is very amateurish. JMO.

I know this doesn't go here but, since its a Clemson sports station, was at the Chamber meeting this am and the new AD spoke, nice intelligent man kept saying we are trying to make the Clemson game experience excellent, however he kept saying and did so 2 or 3 times he couldn't be responsible as to what happened on the field, his title is Athlete Director right, and he hires and fires coaches right, I don't see what he was saying, ultimately he is responsible for the bottom right,,,,, thoughts
