WCFJ QUESTION

I have noticed lately that AM1470 WCFJ Chicago Heights has been playing mostly music lately. It is a very wide range of music from
oldies to country to big band and they have very few brokered programs alone or simulcast with AM1240 WSBC. Has anyone heard
if they are going to change the format? I was thinking that since WCGO has a CP to move to Michigan is it possible that maybe WCFJ
could go on the bird and take over the format? Just a thought on my part. I really don't see much else to do with the signal since they
get "stepped on" by WMBD Peoria all night and sometimes a lot during the day. Also their coverage to the northeast is strong in about
the same area as WCGO, although not to the southwest, but in that area you have WCSJ 1550AM/103.1 running the same format.
 
Although the patterns between WCGO and WCFJ are very different (day and night), WCFJ generally covers more population that WCGO. Perhaps WCFJ could fill a void left by WCGO moving out.

Philip, I agree with you on the difference in the coverage area's. I looked at the Radio-Locator coverage for both stations and
WCGO's is pretty accurate, on the other hand WCFJ's coverage(especially at night) is not exactly what R-L shows it to be. For instance
I'm well into their primary coverage area as it's shown at night, yet most nights I can barely here it due to WMBD's skywave.(they really
have tremendous skywave coverage for a 5 KW, I've heard them cleary at night in Sandusky Ohio),however driving through the Orland
Park or Tinley Park area(directly north of I 80), I usually get a better signal on WCGO than I do on WCFJ. Like I said they really take a
beating from WMBD. All that being said I am with you in thinking they would fill the void when WCGO disappears. Thanks,TR1992
