wcfo move

WCFO 1160 has filed to move its night-time transmitter to the WMLB 1690 site with no change in daytime facilities. The current 1160 night time transmitters are near Mableton and the new nighttime location is in Atlanta and would cover a lot more people.

Cover more people (and a better demo), sure. Cover a LOT more people, I dunno...are they going to stay at 160W night?

You could almost make the argument that Weber needs to move his talk station to WMLB, to get the 1000W night power on the x-band...but he'd have to give up the 50kw day on WCFO to do it...

WMLB's 10,000 watts put a much better daytime signal over Atlanta than WCFO's very directional 50,000 watts. But WMLB is Weber's toy. He gets to be on the air and play his favorite music.

It's really too little to late. If he had been serious about trying to make money he would have put the talk format completly on 1690 and kept 1160 as a play toy. He's already killed both frequency's and nobody listens to any extent anyway. It's still sad to see how Joe destroyed 1160 am when he purchased it from Corey. Now Corey has the money and Joe a black hole that just sucks the money. A very expensive ipod I would say.

The bird calls. Don't forget about the bird calls.

How common is it for a night transmitter to be operating from a seperate location from the day one? Seems like a waste of money to do this (unless it is a full-time backup facility).
