WCFR gets a new GM, new format

New station group Sugar River Media (formerly Koor Communications) has replaced outgoing GM at WCFR/WCVR, Ray Kimball, with WCNL GM, Steve Smith. Smith has reformatted the 70's-2010's AC-ish format, "Springfield's Variety" as a 80's and 90's "New Oldies" station. Described by Smith on his WCNL morning show last week as playing anything that was on MTV and VH1 in the 80's and 90's, the station is now branded for its translator frequency as, "The all new rewind 106.5."
