WCIN Flip to Gospel?

And the winner is........ ;D  ::)...You didn't really think I'd tell you did you?

I'm the one who tipped off Kiesewetter this morning. He said John Thomas wouldn't confirm/deny a format change, but we all know there's going to be one. Too bad that too few care. They still need to do something with that nighttime signal. You can't get it in Newport/Bellevue.

Hello, Mr. Dark Soldier.

Tom

Well Tom, Thanks for the tip off.

By the way the phones say something quite different.

Darksoldier, it sounds like several people are already missing WCIN's old format. Early this evening, I was listening to the live stream of Nashville's Legendary Soul station WVOL-AM 1470 and the jock mentioned that she was receiving requests and calls from Cincinnati residents. You guys did a great job programming the old format. I wish you success with the new format.

Thanks for the compliment radio, We hope to make sure few are dissapointed. Stay tuned!

WCIN lost a pretty fair signal when their original 4(?) tower array not far from Roger Bacon High School was dismantled. Pieces of that tower still serve broadcasters. WZZB 1390 Seymour, IN transmits through 199' of it & WJCP 1460 North Vernon, IN uses 199' of it for an STL tower. Still remember them giving away stuff to the "first person who comes to the studio with the correct answer" back in the late 60's...that was good radio in it's day.

There is a New Sherriff in town....and he aint playing Gospel.

Darksoldier,

I'm sure glad to hear the phones are ringing and someone does care. I'm also glad to hear the New Sheriff ain't playing Gospel.

Time frame for the change?????

Cool, or should I say sm-o-o-o-th?

It's about time this format came back to town.

Are you planning on streaming?

May I assume you will be hiring local talent in the near future for am/pm drives (at least)?

Thanks...I am a believer in this format, as many know from my time on this board. We are really excited to have Smooth Jazz back on the air in this market. We are definitely planning to stream the signal, and Localism is on the horizon.

Congratulations on the change to smooth jazz.

I just spoke with Mr. John Thomas on the phone and told him how pleased I am for the change. I am disappointed, though, that Wilbert Longmire's show has been cancelled. He was the last holdout from the old WNOP real jazz format who still had a show. Now, Darksoldier is the last of the "scurvy crew" that I know, who is still in radio.

Best of luck Mr. Thomas and Darksoldier. I'll be listening.

I hope the signal gets its improvement soon, as well.

Tom

I can't get the station well either. I wonder if they could increase the power during the day?

Curious...what part of town are you in?

I'm in rural Northern Kentucky, Grant County so that is probably why I can only get a somewhat listenable signal. I was never able to hear the station at all before the power increase.
