The Cincinnati board is reporting WCIN Smooth Jazz 1480 AM is dead. New format: Oldies.

I will say I got a very nice lady (unlike the god-awful rude folks who used to answer the late WJJZ Philadelphia's phones) and asked where smooth jazz went. She went into a very nice and long explanation (was surprised she took so much time to discuss it with me) of how smooth jazz wasn't working on AM and how they're really going to push the smooth jazz webstream ... (so apparently that's a permanent thing) and even have ads on it eventually and that I could listen to the webstream in my car with properly equipped mobile technology. LOL I was impressed at all they have the phone person saying at WCIN.
My thoughts: These internet-only smooth jazz stations are nice, but they're a dime a dozen. Do most people really care if WCIN has a web-only smooth jazz station?

Thanks for the lead. In Louisville, and we lost a smooth jazz station here 3 years ago, then I tuned into the Dayton station on the net. I'll be sure to check this out.kirkiefan said:Low power WRPO-FM in Russells Point, Ohio also dropped their traditional smooth jazz a week ago in favor of oldies..
Any consolation out there for jazz fans? YES!
