So.....what's going on at WCIN?

The signal is still in the dumpster. Any progress?

Still owned by the Receiver? Any bidders?

Where's Dark Soldier?
 
Yes...pleeeze....someone provide a status on 1480 signal updgrade and any other news.
Months ago the day signal = in particular - was great, then poor, then great......
Is it an equipment/technical issue, FCC "red tape", etc.
Inquiring minds need to know.
 
I hope some engineering types will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they had to re-apply for the CP because it had expired and the station was running out of parameters.  The latest APP on the FCC web site is for Program Test Authority.  I thought I had seen a new application as recently as August for the new CP, but I don't see it there now.  I really jumped the gun earlier this year when I started that thread about the new signal.

It sounds like they're running the night pattern at all times.  I can get them in Florence at some times, but there's almost no signal downtown during the day.  Heading north on I-75 the signal gets good north of downtown, but then again, the towers are on Reagan Highway! But, if they can get it the way it should be, they'll be jamming 7800 watts into Warrent County and 5000 watts all around except Butler County.

Does anybody have something different?
 
WCIN received Program Test Authority on 9/20/06 for 4500 day and 300 nights. It is now powered up.
 
That's an improvement

Now it sounds like it's 4500 watts! I didn't hear the WCKY IBOC buzz on I-75 and the signal was consistent all the way in from Florence. The smooth jazz tunes sound pretty good, but the audio quality could still use some help, but I'm sure that's not the priority now. I wonder how the night signal is?

Ironically, WCIN now has a better signal in FLorence than the new 100.3!
 
Yeah! The signal is solid - day & night in Sharonville/Blue Ash area. Sounding good!
I guess it was worth the wait.
 
Night time signal SUCKS. I could not get it at Newport on the Levee.

The listing for WCIN at radio-locator says this construction permit is only good until December 20, 2006. Then what?
 
With all the Clear Channel movement in addition to all the FM swappings, no one has mentioned anything at all about WCIN. Looks like the special test authority has only a couple of weeks or so left, then what?

Any rumors of buyers?
 
I made it a point to check out 1480's signal on Wednesday evening while driving in the Monfort Heights-Mt. Airy area. Around 7:00 pm (well after sunset) they were booming on the car radio with a strong signal. However, in the same area two hours later, I wondered if they were even on the air becasue the signal was so bad.
 
That's exactly what I've been noticing, too. I wonder if they are not powering down at the correct time, or some other reason.....
