I know there's been speculation that 97.3 could go smooth jazz, and that would kill WCIN even though they sound really good on AM. Maybe WCIN could pick up some veterans of The Buzz.

Three reasons that is a bad idea....Assuming 97.3 does NOT go SJ.
1. 11% of the population is black...not enough pie for an urban talk station, or even another black oriented station...that's why 1230 dropped it, even though they have syndicated programs at their disposal (Syndication One). @ $14M (and declining) in available, annual, urban related ad revenue in this market. R1 will ALWAYS get the lions share of that revenue due to multi market and multi station selling power. WIZF=18-25; WMOJ=25-54+ secular listener; WDBZ=18+ religious types and community activist/orientation with Lincoln's show. Who's left?
2. COST. Live talk show hosts drive the cost of operations through the roof.
3. Advertisers hate it....unless its the Ohio Lottery, or some other local black oriented product, which is not enough revenue for a stand alone station to function.
Now if 97.3 would go that route, it would have to be live and local, or hard disc. While certainly it can be done, the likelyhood of them WANTING to is not as strong as if they had a syndicated option IMHO. That said, Bonneville has the most available resources for such an endeavor, and they might like to take on WARM, but do they want to leave B without a protective pawn?

Does BA really dead-roll out of spots with no station liners? Or does WCIN not have them programmed in?
And really, the notion of musicians on the air is not a great one. They don't sound polished, for the most part. Too much rambling.

I see. I'm sorry, I'm not a radio professional, just an opinionated listener. I think we met once at the OCB. You were leading an information meeting. Anyway, point well taken. I just wish that Cincinnati was able to sustain more stations that could do live and local programming. I know I would enjoy it if WCIN had a local DJ in the morning, but I guess I'll just have to be more realistic.

for the first time in several months and can't tell for sure any more. Previously, I thought they were satellite
delivered programing 24/7.
BTW, I liked some of the old WCIN programing and would like WCIN change back to their old format of R/B
and talk. That said, I'm not a Jazz fan and from what I've read, WCIN is a heritage radio station in Cincinnati.
So, why not bring the format back to Cincinnati?
Ever since WCIN upgraded their their transmitter site, the signal has been much stronger here in downtown Columbus.
