WCKG

Interesting developments in NY with "Free FM" flipping back to it's old K-Rock format (sort of). Anyone hearing anything concrete about WCKG? Will they stand pat or flip to some kind of music format with Dahl and Meier retained drive shifts? Doesn't seem like CKG's old classic rock format would be viable. Bonneville seems to have that audience locked up pretty tight with it's classic rock/classic hits hybrid The Drive.

The intangible here is how much (or little) CBS rides herd on this. If CBS continues to push keeping Opie & Anthony in Chicago, then between that and the contracts for Dahl and Meier, there's not much hope for anything else to happen.

If the powers that be are serious about attracting an audience, then they could move Dahl to mornings and go with a music format for the remainder, and probably move Meier to another station.

I just don't see CBS officials budging, and it looks like WCKG will flounder for a while longer.
