WCKY: No fire, just bad XMTR

I don't know how a "transmitter fire" story got started, but I seriously doubt it. WCKY's transmitter has been dumping intermittently for MONTHS. Some days are worse than others, and Tuesday was pretty bad. Today is even worse. No exaggeration, it's gone down at least 5 times today that I'm aware of, and I only heard a few hours.

I would think at some point there'd be a legal issue about keeping a signal on. Something is seriously wrong with that stick (no jokes about Air America, wrath of God, etc.). I'd guess conservatively (can I use that word?) that I heard WCKY go off the air at least 15 times in July. And it's definitely gotten worse this week.

I haven't heard them go off the air since the "fire", but I have had a hard time picking WCKY up. I've said this before, but WCNW bleeds in, and at night the "tuned" indicator on my radio flickers on and off a lot. I don't know what's up with them.

Burn Baby Burn.. You ain't got the facts.

It was a genuine. Smouldering fire into the storage building. And no Bubba Bo was not seen grilling anywhere near it. You can take a ride over to Villa Hills and see the charred grounds.

If you ask real nice, Bubba might grill you up a big ol' mess of crow.
Edited by RumourMonger on 08/05/05 12:28 AM.

Don't joke about it too much. You might get a visit from a P.I or a Fire investigator.

Re: Burn Baby Burn.. You ain't got the facts.

Okay, I was wrong about the fire, but I'm not wrong, or exaggerating, about WCKY's chronic problem of going off the air.

Forgive me if I assumed the fire story was wrong, only because it's become so common for the station's signal to disappear constantly for no apparent reason.
