WCLK-FM auditioning for new morning host

JAZZ 91.9 FM HOLDS AUDITIONS FOR MORNING JAZZ

Atlanta, GA - Listeners are invited to tune in to live auditions on Jazz 91.9 FM WCLK as it features Guest Announcers who are auditioning on-air for a permanent 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. weekday slot as host for Morning Jazz.

The station will feature five different announcers over the next five weeks as they try to narrow down their selection of a new host of Morning Jazz. The new host will replace Bill Clark who moved on earlier this month to the post of full-time Program Director at the station. “WCLK is evaluating the announcers for several qualities including, overall sound, music selection, jazz knowledge, and likeability as a morning host,” says Wendy Williams, General Manager. “In Atlanta's busy radio marketplace, we want to be able to reach out and grab listeners right at the start of their day.”

“We're looking for a personality that can accomplish that goal,” says Bill Clark. “We want to cast a wide net in searching for some of Atlanta's best talent, and that's why we have made our auditions public,” adds Clark.

Jazz 91.9 FM listeners are invited to log on at www.wclk.com to register their comments about one or all of the Guest Announcers.

Why get feedback from the listeners? “We encourage fresh perspectives and we are public radio,” continues Williams, “and while this is not a 'Radio Idol' contest, we always value what our listeners think about what they're hearing and from whom they're hearing it.”

Following the five weeks, Jazz 91.9 FM's search committee will take the candidate's air checks and other evaluating factors, including comments received from the listeners, that best suits the station's morning drive time. Jazz 91.9 FM is excited to share this effort with its listening audience and looks forward to announcing its new Morning Jazz host in mid September.

What happened to the old PD, Reggie? Did he get a bigger/better gig somewhere?
