WCLV 104.9s tower location question...

Why exactly is WCLV 104.9s tower in Avon and only a Class A station? Is it because 104.9 is licensed to Lorain or because there is a station(s) they have to protect and as a result they can't put their tower closer to Cleveland and/or increase power?

Not to mention that a certain first adjacent Youngstown market country powerhouse on the other side of 104.9, WQXK/105.1 Salem "K105", would prevent much motion to the southeast.

That'd knock out any move to "go under" 104.7/Geneva's signal, for one.

Just a thought....perhaps a lot of classical music listening is in-home/in-businesses.....and as listening to streaming becomes more and more common....maybe that's the way WCLV is thinking...more than tower sites and over-the-air coverage.

Ok thanks. I thought maybe WKKY 104.7 and WQXK 105.1 were the main factors but was curious if anything else was a factor in their current tower location and Class A status. When 104.9 first went on the air as WZLE from a transmitter tower in Sheffield Township off of Elyria Ave., there were lots of complaints from WIOT listeners in the area from what I've been told who could get WIOT very clear until WZLE signed on in the 70s.
