WCMC signs Harmon

All Access reports that WCMC has signed veteran country morning guy Steve Harmon, who has done time in DFW, Philly, and other places. I think Steve knows NC very well from time spent in Fayette-nam and Charlotte. Looks like Raleigh's 3-way country war just got a little more serious and Capitol is sending a message that they WILL be staying in the game. I think this a great move for Capitol and it shows that they understand how important personalities are on ANY station, but especially country. This is why 'SOC is behind the Kat, beacuse they didn't want to re-sign Schadt a few years ago, thinking that their call letters and "20 in a row" would get it done. Harmon is pretty good and has a track record of success. With a little marketing, this could work for Capitol and cut into QDR's morning numbers.
 
It would be even better if Harmon and Evans would reunite. From listening to some of their past airchecks, that was one of the best country morning teams ever. One can only hope, though.
 
Harmon and Evans were[/i] great (K-PLEX in Big D and WXTU, Philly), but let's not get crazy. I don't think Capitol is ready to roll out that much dough. Establishing AM drive at WCMC will be huge and Dallas Reese will help recycle listeners to the new show. I really like this move. The new Rooster may end up on hind-teat, as the 3rd-place station pretty soon.
 
That Evans guy must be really good because the guy I heard on 99.9 mornings this week sucks. I don't think Clear Channel is concerned. Prediction...WCMC out of format by summer. Excuse will be bad signal. Truth will be awful programming.
 
Prediction:

when the spring 2k7 book comes out, Rooster could be #3 in the format in the mkt (12+,18-34,25-54)

I think with the addition of Harmon, CMC has their act together now....speaking of, I can now pick CMC clear as a bell in Johnston County! I think the new tower must be functioning.
