WCMR 94.5 FM Off The Air

WCMR has been off the air since Saturday. There has been no apparent local presence by Horizon since they started the station back up.

The 70 dBu (1 mV/m) only gets as far as Pontotoc. So, it's 10 miles at least on to Tupelo. While I don't doubt that a decent car radio might get some sort of a signal, it won't be that usable. And, on mornings when band interference picks up, it'll get covered completely.

It's a bit closer to Oxford, but still to weak to do any real good.

Of course, with the station dark, the signal even in Calhoun City is down a bit!

Horizon appears to have plans to cover Tupelo, Oxford, Winona, Booneville, Iuka, Holly Springs, etc. through translators. I believe ten or so were included when Edgewater sold to Horizon. Station is broadcasting in mono (when on air, I know), so will have better coverage than it did in stereo.

When the station is on the air.... how does it get into Tupelo and Oxford?? Listenable in a car?

Very listenable in most of Tupelo on any car radio. Difficult into Oxford. But very good into New Albany, Chickasaw and Webster Counties..
