WCOA-FM has a Facebook page

After learning WCOA-FM is the new local affiliate for "The Savage Nation", I discovered a Facebook page that promotes that station's programming. Before then, there was all ready a Facebook page for WCOA-AM that focused on "Good Morning Gulf Coast", a local program normally broadcast by both WCOA-AM and WCOA-FM.

The WCOA-FM Facebook page also has a schedule for programs WCOA-FM would broadcast Monday through Friday. The schedule does not appear on the main site for WCOA AM and FM (listings for the FM station's programs have been available on Examiner.com since April. If it needs to be updated again, please post under this topic).

The Facebook page for the FM station could have had more visitors selecting "like" if the folks at WCOA AM and FM had done a better job promoting the page. For example, someone could have added a link to the FM station's Facebook page on the main site for WCOA AM and FM.

Thanks for the information.

I can't figure out WCOA-FM. Either Cumulus is dragging this out until they come up with a better format, or they really are this incompetent when it comes to talk radio. The latter seems less plausible because they run some good talk stations in other parts of the state & coutnry. So I dunno what the problem is with getting the FM promoted and pushed out into the public's eye.

Launched the station early... still waiting to get clearances on decent programming for both the Mobile and Pensacola markets. WAVH probably doesn't want to let go of anything and Clear Channel isn't going to play nice with Cumulus over WNTM's programming... Clear Channel probably wants a kings ransom for any shows currently on WNTM.
Cumulus probably has a few more of their own nationally syndicated talk shows in the planning stage... if they ever launch they will have a home in Mobile/Pensacola already lined up.

Just a guess. I assume any programming on a Pensacola AM news/talker could be snatched away for a 100kw FM in a heartbeat. The station wasn't doing any worse as Journey before the Talk FM flip.

I agreee that CC stuff is out, although if they aren't going to go hardcore on getting 710 a translator they need to loosen the grip a little. WAVH may be in a worse position since they are a small independent operator; I still don't know how they and WCOA-FM air Huckabee together. Opposite of what I had believed, I'm told WAVH actually began airing his show first before Cumulus dropped it on their new FM station. So maybe Huckabee isn't going to last long term on 106.5.

Again, though, I don't know how talk radio is doled out and how overlapping signals are handled. After all, we've spent years with Delilah on two stations with 90% overlapping signals, so if talk radio works the same way there's no reason the "Pensacola" FM couldn't do the same with some 106.5, 104.9 and 710.

The fact they killed coast for dead eyed radio isn't helping them, either.

100.7 FM "The Game" (based on Atlanta's 92.9 The Game) would fit it if they were to switch formats. Mind you, where I live, there are no listenable talk radio stations except for 100.7. Boasting the 100KW signal and being heard in 3 states won't make Crapululs humble then they should just sell the 100.7 stick to Hale and let him handle it.

The switch from C2C to RER was due to the fact that C2C is a competitor's product. They want their shows on their stations and if CC could have a market-wide FM talk signal to put Coast on, they'd do it and would've yanked it from WCOA themselves. Expect Michael Savage to show up on 100.7 when his new Cumulus-backed show debuts, just like Huckleberry did.

Huckleberry Zach? Why do you always have to be so condescending? I carry Mike Huckabee on 1580 in Pascagoula and he is doing very well for us. He may not be the best interviewer in the world but he makes sense. Even with 100.7's 100KW signal booming in here along with a decent signal from WAVH, I get comments daily about the program.

I didn't mean any ill will towards Mike Huckabee, I think he's an OK guy. It's kind of an inside joke with some friends. He started off as Mike Huckabee, then became Huck Mikeabee, then Mike Huckleberry, then Huckleberry Hound. It has nothing to do with his politics or on-air persona.

I do have to say wow to RER, they were discussing things I thought were taboo, Obamacare™ glad people are waking up to the truth about what's going on behind the scenes. If COA FM were to carry Alex Jones, then I'd have more respect for Cumulus.

Thank you for clarify Zach! Nothing wrong with good inside humor

Report to the FCC??

Well, if you actually have time in your day to record what goes on at WCOA-FM and file a formal complaint with the FCC for them not broadcasting anything for a little while.... then go right ahead.
I wonder if someone at the FCC has as much free time as you do to pay any attention to your complaint?

It's not as if we live in a white area and 100.7 is the only broadcast service available to us. It doesn't hurt the listeners one bit for them to broadcast silence a few hours a day. Heck, it may pop their ratings since you are listening... hoping that there is an open mike somewhere that you might hear an engineer fart into.

At the same time, it's not cheap operating a full power stick, yet, they seem to have money blowing off their ass if they can afford dead air and a "simulcast" on two different frequ. (me thinks 106.1 will be flipping soon.. maybe bring back rock 106 but they don't wanna compete with TK.. rock 106 kinda felt like a legacy station when I heard it)

Report to the FCC??

Don't really care. The only reason I notice it is because I'm in the car on Sundays between 3 and 4 to travel to a destination, and notice the dead air during a scan.

I'm too busy trying to stop global warming oops....climate change ;D

LOL, and yet, were freezing our asses off here (BTW, Climate change means one extreme to another and we have been cooler in the summer.. )

Climate change? It's been getting cold around November most all of my life. Is something different about this cold except for the arthritis?

As an aside, I picked up an add price list for CC Mobile. 30 second spot on KSJ $85, 30 seconds on Mix $75. 30 secs on TK or the Rocket $55. 30 secs on 107.3 $25. 30 secs on WNTM-AM $35.
