As posted on Craigslist.com.

Morning news anchor? Hey, that's Henson's job. And look to whom the resumes are sent.

Lordy, does this mean that worthless hack Henson is going to be doing the morning show? Watch out Howard Stern.

Route 81 Radio is an equal opportunity employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

If WCOJ gets someone who fits that description it will have a much better morning news persion than it has now. Maybe the new person will actually expend the energy to generate some local news stories instead of running the "Jim Plummer Show." We can only hope that Henson is leaving too.

I am getting tired of all this bashing of WCOJ and Henson.
If you don't like the station, don't listen.
Have any of you ever done the job? If you think you can do better, send them a tape.
You people complain about no local radio and then when somebody does local radio, all you do is complain about that.

Okay.

Since this is a forum for radio opinions, while I appreciate your post, I believe most of us will contnue to state our true feelings. With so many people disliking Henson's work, maybe there's more than germ of truth in the posts.

I think he is bad on-air; dated and not the least bit entertaining. And people I know who have met him don't like him for a myriad of reasons.

And yes, I have done this job and, in fact, I continue to do it. I have no desire to work for WCOJ, so I won't be sending a resume and tape. But good luck to those who do.

Henson's attempts at humor are downright offensive. If he had an audience he'd get more than one caller every three hours. And if Joe, that rambling senior citizen from Coatesville, ever dies, WCOJ can disconnect the studio's telephone line, 'cause old Joe the only person calling Henson's show.

Saying that some people dislike Henson (personally) is like saying Dom Deluise is a tad pudgy.

Local radio

"You people complain about no local radio and then when somebody does local radio, all you do is complain about that."

Hey, I love local radio too. Unfortunately, WCOJ just had a professional broadcaster and communicator who did a supurb job at local radio and in promoting the station as a community resource. It either decided it was not worth keeping him or that it did not want to treat him in a way that made him want to stay. That is too bad for WCOJ because Joe Thomas was actually too good for that station.

As "Computer Corner" host Gene Mitchell was heard saying on the air several months ago, "WCOJ is (now was) very lucky to have Joe Thomas."

Henson, however, does bad local radio and lacks maturity and talent. He should run an aircheck to see what he imposes upon what listeners WCOJ has left.

To have Henson return as morning host would be a tragedy. I will always remember what a lady who called into Doug Sterling's show said when Henson made his return to, as he says "the broadcasting industry" a couple years ago. She expressed dismay that Henson was back and told Doug on the air that "Rob Henson just rubs me the wrong way." I wholeheartedly agree with this typical listener's assessment and think it telling that so many people feel this way.

I heard on WCOJ today that the new morning guy starts this week. Anyone hear anything about this new guy? I didn't recognize the name, but I was very thankful it wasn't Hack Henson.

Apparently the new guy is a radio novice they found off the street who has a good voice. With some polish, he may be ok, but he currently is not ready for "prime time." Hopefully he will have some guidance in dropping phrases like "the temperature outside is..." and "currently, the time is..."
