What was the reason why WZLX vacated this site for the John Hancock Tower back in the mid 1980s if this site in Lexington could provide a potent signal that could penetrate downtown buildings.

Obviously, a site on the Hancock or the Pru is going to do better downtown than a site in Lexington, that's why WHUE moved from there to the Hancock (it was before WZLX or WKKT). The only reason that the Lexington site was brought up in this thread was speculation about a site where perhaps 99.5, which can not move to Boston, may have been able to move to do better in Boston than where they are now in Andover.
It's a given that it would not be possible for 99.5 to actually move to Boston for many reasons including second adjacent WPLM Plymouth, first adjacent WEAN in RI, possible IF interference with WERS, etc... I'm sure they would if they could.
