WCOV-DT?

Hooked up my in-laws DTV converters this past weekend. All the Montgomery channels come in nicely EXCEPT for WCOV, which I could only get a few pixels and sounds from. Is their digital signal at low-power right now?

only montgomery station not on the hd lineup for Brighthouse. Hey, David....what gives? Time to get serious about your HD channel or piss off the NASCAR and NFL fans for another season.

Yes, they're running only about 1kw from their analog tower in Montgomery proper. They have a permit to increase power and move to a tower west of town where they'll share with channel 12's digital signal. (it's adjacent to channel 12's analog tower) However, they've also applied to change their DTV assignment from channel 16 to channel 20, and probably won't build the full-power channel 16 facility unless the FCC denies the channel change. If the channel change is granted, they probably won't build the full-power channel 20 facility until the analog signals go off the air next February.

THEY ARE IN HD ON KNOLOGY--

WHO WATCHES TV "OVER THE AIR" ANYMORE--??

DAVID WOODS TELLS ME THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE WHO DO....

I HAVENT WATCHED AN " OVER THE AIR" SIGNAL SINCE I WAS A KID!!!

BTW-- THE WCOV " STATION VOICE" IS REALLY , REALLY GOOD.

I LOVE HIM!

Cent's stations are going HD ,I'm gett'n calls for offair antenna's daily
Every body sames to be upgrading their tv's.

WCOV is in HD on Charter also. I haven't tried in a long time to pick up the digital signals here in Pike Road, but last time I did only PBS and WSFA came in clearly.

Side note...I heard that the station voice at WCOV is really good, but the bigger problem is that he thinks he is really really good! Something about he has to work out of his house these days because the size of his head won't clear door ways any more.

I kid, I kid John!

...Or those like me, that have Direct TV but still can't get the locals through them.

Hope they'll soon add the Montgomery Alabama stations to their line up real soon.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. I own two HD Converter Boxes and still can't every Montgomery channel through them. This would include 20, 22, 26, 32, 45 and 67.

In Auburn, Charter forces you to take Columbus, GA stations, with the exception of WSFA and APT. I emailed David Woods about this and he said it's an FCC issue. I have been to or lived in other places (Destin, Alex City) where the market was split, and the cable company gave you everything you could get with an antenna, if they want to. But that's too much to ask of a company like Charter. WCOV comes in clear with a cheap tabletop Target antenna, but Fox 54 out of GA barely picks up. I keep one tv on an antenna so I can still pick up WCOV, WAKA, CW 22, and WRJM for actual news and weather relevant to where I live. I don't vote in GA, I'm not on Eastern time, and the weather's already hit me by the time Columbus reports on it. I know several people in Auburn who watch WCOV and others OTA because of this... just hope the new digital signal makes it here in Feb.

WCOV HAS A GREAT REPUTATION FOR LOCAL PROGRAMMING-- MPD-- NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED SHOW-- DAVID WOODS-- PRODUCER WAS FEATURED IN NEW YORK TIMES A FEW YEARS BACK- ONE OF THE FEW STATIONS NATIONWIDE ( MAYBE THE ONLY ) DOING A LOCAL VERSION OF " COPS"

COUNTY LAW-- ONLY SHOW OF ITS KIND-- BEATS OTHER NEWSCASTS IN SAME TIMESLOT--

DONT KNOW OF ANY OTHER LOCAL FOX STATIONS DOING THAT KINDS OF STUFF--

ANYONE ELSE..?

you'd be surprised, or not, when you're in a place like here where you can make a side-by-side comparison what a good on the air product WCOV is. and not counting the local stuff, there are times that Fox 54 doesn't carry national Fox sports events like MLB or NFL in favor or overplayed syndicated sitcoms. i can understand not having the budget to produce local stuff, but not carrying network sports doesn't make any sense.

and that 9:00 news w/WSFA is probably the best thing they've done since becoming a Fox affiliate. if only Kim Wanous was the anchor like old school WCOV...

The Fox station out of Dothan does (or did) a cheap cops clone. It was mostly dashboard camera footage of insane stuff on Ross-Clark Circle. I can't pick up the station very well, so I don't know if it's still on. The local cable access Channel, BLAB-TV, that covers Pensacola and Fort Walton on most cable systems has a very long running cops type show (Blue Lights). This show may have been on the air about 20 years now. They may also be showing this show on cable access channels in Mobile and Panama City, at least they have in the past. Blue Lights has been going down hill in recent years, but they still have great Panama City Spring Break footage every year.

I've seen other local Cops like shows, I just can't remember where right now.
