As of the latest survey WCPT is up again which has had ratings growth in every survey period since appearing on that frequency back in April. When will another company finally step up to the plate with a good signal and put the Air America programming on there. Newsweb in my opinion has not done anything to market this station and they are still pulling good numbers by just word of mouth on that lousey signal. WRLL seems like a good choice with nightime coverage and ratings that are not so hot and high overhead. I wonder if maybe one of the fm stations would ever consider the format. How about Q-101 with Mancow in the mornings and progressive talk the rest of the day LOL. This is a good viable format in this town and could easily pull a 2+ share.

I don't think that there's a full-signal FM desperate enough for Air
America yet - but if there's hope, how about putting it on the 92.7/99.9/92.5 simulcasts?

No?

They invested too much into Nine FM to flip them. Plus it doesn't cover as much of the market as 850.

If 820 ever got their upgrade to night operation I could see it being put there.

But I could be wrong.
______________

how about a move to 820?

Your comments about the lack of commitment from Newsweb for Progressive radio on 850 is on target.

Just look at all the initiatives they have not undertaken:

1) WCPT has yet to establish a Website. None. They could easily use it as a promotion piece or a listener comment vehicle.

2) That means no streaming. WCPT laments over the air that in the winter, they have shortened hours but they do nothing to initiate a streaming service to "lengthen" their hours. Let's face it, this is a fully automated station and they could lock the door at sunset and it could just keep on operating.

3) Other than the much promoted message line, there is no way for the listeners to communicate with the station. No e-mails, no message board, nothing.

4)Minimal promotion other than cross promotion activity with their other stations and those idiotic Bus ads.

5)No local presense. NO local personalities. Just those one minute news inserts that are probably outsourced.

It seems the station has little interest in building a "relationship" with the listeners and, therefore, has no longterm commitment.

I read somewhere that their contract with Air America ends in April (can't be sure). We'll see what happens then.
______________

That would have made it a one year deal. Is that the standard length for these kinds of deals?
