WCRB in the news

The Boston Herald has a story about how this next "Classical Cartoon Festival" will be the final one. It's at http://www2.townonline.com/somerville/entertainment/view.bg?articleid=458341.

Some of the wording isn't really clear, but the article seems to suggest that the license transfer will occur between 90 to 180 days after April 3rd. When does that put the format change, July or August?

Practically anyone who works on-air at a radio station will defend the stations programming in public as long as they are on the station, even if the station may be changing formats and letting them go soon. It's the professional thing to do.

No one who works in professional radio will criticize the station they're on in a print article. Even if they might have other personal opinions in private, they know they could potentially jeopardize any further future opportunities if other radio management personell might happen to see them being publicly critical toward the station they're working at. They would be viewed as a potential risk by other employers.

Speaking of potential employers, did you notice this? "But I’m also a child of the ’70s and ’80s and I love, believe it or not, hair bands and classic rock. I love Kiss. I’m a big Fleetwood Mac fan and a huge Jethro Tull fan."

So, any airshifts expected to open up soon at WROR?

They do have an ongoing posting on their website for part-time weekenders...

And, I guess Greater Media's purchase of WCRB will give her a "foot in the door" in the cluster, even if the days may be numbered for their classical format...

Didn't Greater Media indicate in a press release a number of months back that they might move but would not eliminate the Classical format? I wonder what happens to the satellite fed network that originates at WCRB and is heard on a number of stations around the US?
