WCRB To Go National ?

According to Clea Simon's article in today's Boston Globe Nassau Broadcasting, who will take over WCRB probably in November, is considering using the Boston format and on-air personalities as a syndicated base for its other stations in the northeast. Those other stations, the article noted, can pick and choose if they want to pick up a morning Boston broadcast which they may be unable to do otherwise.

That would be a great break for Laura Carlo who is one of the best morning voices in Boston radio. She has more than paid her dues in brooadcasting and many would like to hear her work appreciated beyond the Boston market.

99 Point 5 : A Classical Number To Remember

If this happens, would Nassau compete head to head with the World Classical Network, which is currently being syndicated by WCRB, and rumored to be selling to Chris Jones (son of WCRB founder Ted Jones)? Or is Nassau buying the WCN along with WCRB? The World Classical Network currently has 10 or so subscribers... among those the 4 Nassau stations mentioned in the article.

If Nassau intends to inflict WCRB dreck nationwide, it will have to go up against a national network undergirded by both WQXR in NYC and WFMT in Chicago. My favorite part of Clea's article is the assertion that WCRB's format would be ideal for some failing and flailing outlet in Boise!

Didn't you know, farm animals enjoy Classical Music. Cows give more milk, chickens lay more eggs and pigs grow more bacon.

But one might also ask - remember "Roberta"?

Laying more eggs ????? Hmm, are they piping it into the Bush White House? He now needs the Brits to save his sorry .....
