WCRN drops Huckabee for Santos

I don't know when it happened but WCRN-AM 830 in Worcester is the new radio home for Jeff Santos. Well at least the first hour of his show is on from 2 - 3 p.m. It looks like they dropped Huckabee in favor of Santos. I guess his checks must still be good.

After the CBS news at 2, it was Revolution Radio from Marina Bay in Quincy with Santos. He plugged WCRN as his new local home for the 1st hour and then directed listeners to his website for the remaining 3 hours of the show. It seems an odd choice for a conservative station like WCRN but in their case, I'm sure the money talked.

Don't bother looking at WCRN's website, they haven't updated it in a long time. They still list Savage, Midnight Radio Network, and many other shows that are no longer carried by the station. Pretty pathetic. IMHO, as much as I rail against corporate ownership, this is a station that would probably benefit from an ownership group buying them out.

I just looked at Jeff's site and he can't even update his site either. It looks like a match made in heaven with WCRN. ;D

WCRN site indeed not updated; does list a "Frankie Boyer show" 1-2 pm on Tue-Thu; still lists Huckabee, and still lists Savage. Supposedly Savage says he plans to be back on within the next
couple weeks--not sure through who.

(Savage site):
>>WHILE I CANNOT DIVULGE MY DECISION AT THIS TIME, I CAN SAY I HOPE TO BE BACK WITHIN TWO WEEKS AND WITH THE MOST POWERFUL ANNOUNCEMENT IN MODERN RADIO HISTORY

I'll bet ;)

Another reason radio is a joke of a medium.

WCRN is now running Jerry Doyle in place of Savage. And they have been carrying Overnight America since January. Many of the weekday shows on their listing page are no longer carried by the station and in some cases, have moved to other stations such as "two on the aisle" which is now on WCUW.

If they can't update the website, they should just turn it off. In this day & age it's pretty sad that a station does not keep their site updated.

I think the station at some point may be brokered only programming which given their signal coverage is too bad. WCRN added local news updates all day every day this past spring touting their news from a Worcester newsroom and have since dropped them. It's actually too bad that they didn't keep them because soon after, I heard WTAG promos pushing their "local news". I think they could have finally given their Clear Channel competitor some real competition. Unfortunately WCRN retrenched because the gains outweighed the cost.
